2. Hosting and server log files
This site is served statically by a hosting provider. On access, the provider automatically collects server log files (IP address, timestamp, page requested, referrer, browser type). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in secure, stable operation. This data is not merged with other sources.
3. Cookies and Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics only activates after you explicitly consent via the banner; without your consent, no cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. Legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with § 165(3) TKG 2021 (Austrian Telecommunications Act). You can withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future, by clearing your browser’s site data for this domain (the banner will reappear) or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

3a. Cookieless analytics (Umami, self-hosted)
I additionally use the open-source software Umami for audience measurement. Umami runs exclusively on my own server (stats.mastalavista.com); no data is transmitted to third parties. Umami sets no cookies and creates no cross-device identifiers. It records the page visited, the referring page, browser and device type, screen size, language and country of origin; the IP address is used only to derive a daily-rotating, non-reversible hash and is not stored. Individual persons cannot be identified. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a privacy-preserving analysis of how this website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); consent is not required under § 165(3) TKG 2021 because no information is stored on or read from your device. Your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting is honored.
4. Amazon Associates (affiliate links)
I participate in the Amazon Associates Programme. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links are marked with an asterisk (*) and a notice. Clicking such a link forwards you to Amazon; your IP address and a cookie are transmitted to Amazon so the referral can be attributed. From that click onward, Amazon’s privacy policy applies. Legal basis for the referral: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
